Stop Ranting And Face Parliamentary Business, Arewa Youths Warn Gbajabiamila Over Undemocratic Comments

The Arewa Citizens for Democracy (ACD) has cautioned Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to concentrate on his legislative duties and quit recklessly delving into issues.  The group of northern youths gave this warning in a press conference held on Sunday in Kaduna to address what it described as “the naked dance of shame, embarked upon by the Speaker”. In a statement signed by President, AbdulGafar Usman, the Arewa Citizens for Democracy called out Mr Gbajabiamila over recent outburst in reaction to the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.   Mr Gbajabiamila had threatened to report Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, to President Muhammadu Buhari over heightened onslaught on Nigerians in the Rainbow nation.  Instead of embarking on such ranting spree, the group revealed that there are better ways the Speaker would have handled the situation on the ground.  The Arewa youths, therefo...

Pro-democracy Group Slams Speaker Gbajabiamila Over Unguarded Utterances To Derail Buhari's Government

The National Democratic Front (NDF) has warned Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, to stop playing politics with issues of national security and quit making utterances to derail President Muhammadu Buhari's government.  This caution trails Mr Gbajabiamila's statement on Friday where he appeared to have berated the Service Chiefs for failing to honour invitation to the lower chamber.  In a statement signed by Secretary General, Dr. Abdukakadir Bolaji, the NDF said it is appalled by the “careless utterances of the Speaker” who also vowed to report the Foreign Affairs Minister to the President over the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.  According to the group, there is a   grand plot to discredit the administration of President Buhari and Mr Gbajabiamila appears to be in forefront.  However, The National Democratic Front advised the Speaker not to return to the era where instead of parliamentary fun...

*Boko Haram: Group tasks EFCC, ICPC to probe NGOs undermining Nigeria's fight against terror*

The Public Accountability Network (PAN) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as well as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of certain Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) covertly undermining the country's fight against terror. The group appealed to the anti-graft agencies to forthwith probe the funding sources of NGOs in the NorthEast in a press conference signed by Executive Director, Mark Daniel Atawodi, on Sunday in Abuja. This plea comes on the heels of the odious exposure of the Action Against Hunger, a supposed global humanitarian organization, secretly aiding and abetting terrorists, supplying them food and drugs. After several cautions from the Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE (TC – OPLD), the Nigerian Army declared persona non grata for aiding Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State West Africa. Consequently, the Public Accountability Network reckons that there could be more secret ter...

Super Camp, Boko Haram and the end of evil By Kareen Goulding

Since 2009 when Boko Haram began its violent campaign against the state in Nigeria, it has been a tale of invincibility. The military authorities underrated their sophistication at the time, and this resulted in heavy casualties on civilian populations as well as troops who employed conventional war strategies in a war that is asymmetric. I must add that the Nigerian authorities were dumbfounded as they could not phantom the way out of dealing with the threat posed by the terrorist group. So this trend lasted for an upward eight years, and with millions displaced and properties worth millions of naira destroyed in North-East Nigeria. The Boko Haram phenomenon posed a severe threat to the territorial sovereignty of Nigeria and consequently plunged North-East Nigeria in a humanitarian crisis that shook our very foundation. I recall that various school of thoughts propounded theories that would curtail the activities of the terrorist group, but none seemed to provide that magic ...

T.Y Danjuma, Governors, others perpetrate evil under farmers-herders' crisis to undermine Buhari presidency - Ex-Senate President Ebute

Third Republic Senate President, Chief Ameh Ebute, has accused some respected politicians, serving governors and elder statesmen of leveraging on the Famers-herders’ clashes to discredit President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.  The highly-revered ex-lawmaker made this known in a paper presented at a One Day International Conference on Good Governance and Accountability in Government organised by the Coalition for Civil Society Organizations for Change and Good Governance on Tuesday in Abuja.  In his piece titled “Appraising 100 Days of President Buhari on the saddle and building a nation where justice shall reign”, Chief Ebute gave an honest assessment of the president's second term thus far.  According to him, out of desperation for power, certain well-known politicians have either taken to sponsoring violence or simply turned blind eyes to clashes around them for their selfish gains.  In the forefront, as stated by Mr Ebute, is for...
