Millennium Progressive Teachers Forum Of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter Ekiti State Education System, Our Heritage!!!

"Evil triumph not because of the men who do evil, but because of good men who sit and allow evil happened”.

Let us start by first appreciating  Ekiti  state governor that always shown signs of moving the state forward from the state of comatose in the face of dwindling economic fortunes of the country at this critical period of our national life. Thus far;  we are calling  for the support of all to move the  state forward most especially the education sector that are in shambles and sorry state knowing fully well that there is no nation that can rise above her education system.

As a responsible citizen and for the purpose of setting the records straight,  We must refuse to be cowed, we must refused to be silenced, we must refused to remain on-lookers in the affairs of the state, especially in the Education Sector, we need to gets our priorities right, and move away from the former Jamboree that have brought us into this in the first place .

It has come to our knowledge the activities of some supposed nation builders who their interest and expectations should center on building a society where our identities and values will be a motivation to the incoming generation., but have deviated greatly .

This piece is therefore to protest the alleged decision of some political jobbers among the teachers to press home their demand to impose their crude means of validation to sustain their employment and promotions. Not only that, but to continue benefitting from such illegality now and in the nearest future. It is a fundamental fact obtainable anywhere in the world that the only legitimate means of getting a job or any legal promotion in any public and private sector is through presentation of one's certificate issued by any recognized institutions in the nation or beyond before such employer.

To our dismay, this normal process/processes have been slaughter on the threshold of politics and bribery in the  state. In the time past, most of our senior colleagues with the help of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools connive with some political staffs of the Teaching Service in the state to perpetrate evil against humanity by taken illegal letter in place of legitimate certificate to promote teachers within the system. Most of these people attended mushroom degree awarding affiliated institutions who their aclaimed parent instructions are unaware of. Some of them even went ahead to photocopy another person results change the names. During this period we were made to understand that series of protest letter were sent to the teaching service and ministry of education which their cronies in the system try to sweep under the carpet.

When we were enlisted in the system, our loyalities and activities is to help government to build a robust system that will move us away from the comatose state of our education system. We are not unaware of many of the activities that put our education in jeopardy ranging from insincerity of purpose , care free attitude of our people to work couple with unclear headed teachers dictating from textbook to students every year and expect such students to graduate and be a good product that our society is yerning for and governments at various level is suffering their purse to build.

We hereby call on the Executive Governor of the state ,the Education Miinistry, the Teaching Service and other relevant stakeholders to stand up for their responsibilities to organized a well meaningful validation exercise where all teachers will present their certificates for unthentic validation as requestes by VALIDATION MUST STAY GROUP. If validation must stay it must be a geniune validation devoid of any manipulation from any quarters, we can not build legality on illegality, letter will not take over certificate. Ekiti state as fountain of knowledge and land of honour should be known for her model education system that other state can copy from and not to kill the ideas of our hero past and our founding fathers.

We also call on Academy Staff Union of Secondary Schools leaders to desist from  supporting illegalities against the government in the name of supporting our member. We should remember "No man walk beckward and reach his expected destination and we cannot build something on nothing". As a responsible union our activities should be geared toward supporting the government in her quest to reposition our education system and to fight for our teeming members in a legitimate ways.

There is no better response from us as conscientious citizens that to pass a vote of confidence on the Ministry of Education, Ekiti State Teaching service Commission and their staff in their efforts to reposition the education system of the state. We also called on those who are head bent in distracting the commission with unwarranted protest to desist from such act and face their business of impacting a meaningful knowledge on our children.
